If you by some chance like you some dance music…as in you could use glow sticks dance music, you might like Heartbreak on Vinyl by Blake Lewis. A forewarning however do not follow the singer Blake Lewis, the music will be ruined for you. Avoid all interviews with the singer and any of his songs with titles like “superscratchavocalisticturnatablelicious”. The reason being Blake is a fucking douche in interviews and in his sketchy titled songs he is usually beat boxing. Now I know your probably thinking wtf!? But his non beat boxing tracks are actually good…again if you like dance/electonica/synth-pop.

Blake’s previous album A.D.D. (Audio Day Dream) definitely had a couple of good songs on the album as well, but on Heartbreak on Vinyl you’re able to forget that Blake is a douche, which can probably be equated to the production of Dave Audé, and Rodney Jenkins. Both of which know how to make bitches get on the dance floor. Combining their production with Blake’s electronic sound is a match made in heaven, or at least on the dance floor in heaven. The album’s title track Heartbreak on Vinyl isn’t much,  the song sounds more pop than anything else but the more you listen to it the more your willing to admit the song is kinda cute. Binary Love has a beat to die for, but also some lyrics that are somewhat lost on me. Sad Song the album’s first single is standard and pretty much what you would expect from a song titled Sad Song…you can still dance though! There are 3 songs on the album you should probably skip being: Left My Baby For You, Rebel Without A Cause, and superscratchavocalisticturnatablelicious. Left My Baby For You is album filler and could have been left off the album altogether. Rebel Without a Cause is Blake reminding us he is a douche. And well superscratchavocalisticturnatablelicious…do I even have to explain. However the albums best tracks more than make up for any mistakes, Afraid is pure perfection, followed by the amazing Freak (which is somewhat douchetastic but has a solid beat) Love or Torture (Please Don’t Stop) is some good clean dirty fun. However the albums standout track is The Point, which you can’t really dance to at all, and you probably wouldn’t want to either because this is the albums actual Sad Song.

Album Grade: B

Ok so Britney has decided she needs another greatest hits compilation…just 2 albums after her last greatest hits compilation. Makes no sense I know, but does anything Britney does make sense?

My biggest problem with the song is “why?” Madonna, who also just had a greatest hits re-release (Madonna still has hits?!) “Celebrated” by having a new track titled “Celebration”…get it? Christina Aguilera (1st greatest hits release  last year) re-recorded/remixed some of her signature hits as well as adding the new song “Keeps Gettin Better” to her collection…clever right? And Hilary Duff (who has had more greatest hits collections than your mother) always manages to add her latest attempt at makin grown up music with the collection. Growth. Britney try it some time. Even on Britney’s last greatest hits (titled “My Prerogative”)  had a cover of Bobby Browns “My Prerogative, no growth but lol we get it Britney it’s your prerogative…but maybe that is the problem as well…

“3″ as stupid and sensless as it is to be the new single of a greatest hits collection is obviously, about a 3some…Britney doesn’t even know 2 person sex these days much less 3 person sex. But I’m sure her father/captor has convinced her this song is about dancing out on the floor with your 2 best girl friends!

Crappy yes, but I myself will tear this song the fuck up on the dance floor, and probably with Peter, Paul, and Mary.

Tricky Stewart has not only been busy working on new projects for Ciara, Rihanna, Diddy, and The-Dream, but also Christina Aguilera’s long-awaited fourth studio album. The producer with the Midas touch let Rap-Up.com in on a few secrets from his recording sessions with the pop princess. “I’m working on Christina Aguilera’s album for next year,” Tricky told Rap-Up.com in an exclusive interview. The follow-up to 2006’s Back to Basics has been described as a departure from her past efforts. “It’s just great. I wouldn’t say that it’s alternative, I wouldn’t say that it’s different,” he shared. “Christina’s always been an artist that moves the bar and that’s what the great ones do. They don’t stay in the same place for too long and this album is just another move for her.” The hitmaking machine behind Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” believes this album will take its place among Aguilera’s best work. “I really feel it’s one of her best bodies of work that I’ve heard since Stripped. I think it’s really, really amazing and I think it’s well put together.” The record has something for everyone. “She’s mixing it up again. She’s singing R&B again, she’s doing pop. She’s doing it all, but she’s found a way to make it all meet in the middle because she’s so many different things. She’s a real serious musician, she’s a real serious pop artist, and she’s a real serious singer. She’s making all her audiences happy at the same time.” The mother of one had previously revealed a collaboration with M.I.A. “I know that she did it,” confirmed Tricky, “and I know that there’s a lot of other cool features, like I know that she has Santigold and Flo Rida on there.” Tricky enlisted the “Right Round” rapper for one of the cuts. “I put Flo Rida on my record because I love what he does. I think sometimes he doesn’t get credit for being as dope as he is, but he’s really dope.” Fans will have to wait until next year for the album while the pop star focuses on Burlesque, her musical co-starring Cher. “She’s gonna do the film first. She didn’t want to not be able to promote this record because it’s gonna be a big record for her,” explained Tricky. But rest assured that the futuristic-sounding project is on its way. “The album is finished. She’s mixing. She hasn’t made a final decision about what the first single is, but I know everyone feels good about their options.”

Whatever Happened, Happened

Wow it seems to be about 36 days since I last posted…I know because *drum roll*…tonight is the season premier of Gossip Girl! I have been waiting all summer! But honestly, unless you’re LOST the season premiers usually suck. So lack luster, that’s why they should actually last 2hrs in time.  

Well I suppose I could come up with some excuse as to why I abandoned my blog but, whatever happened, happened. Clever I know. And I’m not claiming I’m back either but when you play hooky last minute with no plans the day can end up boring. I could update you on life I suppose…I’m getting my class grades up, that is pretty exciting. Oh and everyday I think I’m gonna chop all my hair off…but then it falls right into place and I realize I’m walking around with the 8^th world wonder on top of my head! I start my new shift at work next month, a little earlier just not too early. With Sundays and Mondays off! Yay for football…now to pick a team to root for, how about whatever team is playing against Brett Farve. He is to the NFL what Madonna is to the music industry, we get it you used to be really good, but now you’re just embarrassing and old. Now don’t get me wrong I know Farve is still playing fairly decent, but Madonna can also still get my ass on the dance floor, doesn’t mean I don’t want her to stop. I’m a little upset that T.O. is no longer with the Dallas Cowboys, he reminds me of Dion Sanders; just misunderstood. I am absolutely on love with the T.O. show, but the other day he visited a sick family member and he was all sad, that wasn’t very fun. I like it when he goes shopping. Back on topic however, my bros and sis are back in school and I’m real sad about that, but we still manage to have fun on the weekends, and sometimes when I come home late we watch The Office DVD’s which coincidently also premiers this week!

I guess the new thing in my life would be, Vampire Diaries, which takes True Bloods place as crappy weekly eye candy, but as I’ve said before. No man can compare with Boone:

He plays the bad brother, Damon. And what could I ask more for. Evil characters are my favorite! Case point: Faith, Benjamin Linus, Maleficent, Georgina Sparks, Spike, Shannon Doherty, Christina Aguilera…The black smoke monster…techno music…

 

Anyways as far as mucis goes I haven’t really heard much new music, I mean I will probably review Amanda Blank’s new album and the new Backstreet Boys one as well, but I’ve been pretty much listening to old albums, no sense in reviewing them. However, next month Mr. Hudson and Blake Lewis are both releasing albums and I really like both of them so well see… but regarding:

Hearts and Minds

Well kids, I really don’t know what to say about last week, it kinda just went right by and now that I think about it, it seems like a blur. I don’t even think I posted last week…hmmm. Anyways. So the week basically started last Sunday when me and a couple friends made plans to go dancing Friday. The majority of my week was spent at the gym, hoping to get my legs ready for a dancing marathon (yeah good in theory but my legs still killin me today), Other than that I went back to school and I have been watching old episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Wow I can’t believe at one time I thought this was the best show on television…It’s still better than any other vampire shit out right now, Although what with Vampire Diaries coming soon maybe there will be some competition…lol I’m sure there won’t be; but Vampire Diaries will be pretty to look at:

 On the big day (Friday) I had a little trouble getting ready for the festivities of the night that were about to ensue (mostly because I managed to get really fucked up Thursday with a first round start at about 3p.m.) but about 5min before everyone met up at the apartment I was ready to get my ass on the dance floor. Pre game was definitely good times as we came up with abbreviated nicknames for everyone. The trick is to say it real gangsta like, my abbreviated name is T.E.O. which stands for turns em out…don’t worry we won’t tell your girl. Once I finally got to dancing I didn’t stop and eventually became solo dancer, which was the best thing that happened the whole night, well besides  when one of my friends fell backwards off the stage we was dancing on, and I had to use my amazing dance moves to do a spin move and pretend I saw nothing (we only use the term “man down” when someone can’t finish their drink at last call and they need assistance)  all in all it was everything a dancing fool could ask for in a night.

So the best news I can offer in this blog post is the new season of Gossip Girl will start in 36 days.
